Yvonne Michelle Lawson

Yvonne Michelle Lawson passed from this life on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 71. She was born on June 13, 1954, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

"Vonne" as she was known to many was a loving and caring person with a no nonsense demeanor. She was a graduate South Side High School Class of 1972. She continued her education and received her associate degree in Social Work.

She was married to Willie Henry Lawson on May 5, 2023 in Fort Wayne. Von became a member of Divine Providence Church on October 27, 2019 where she served faithfully under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Michael A. Griffin.

Surviving are her husband, Willie Henry Lawson; two sons, Duran Hunt; Ditameon (Shaniece) Stewart; 7 grandchildren; Deja Hunt, Duran Hunt, Jr., Ditameon Stewart, Jr., Arieanna Stewart, Aviyona Hunt, Aubree Hunt and Ahlure Hunt; siblings, Michael Hunt, Kevin (Stacy) Hunt, Mary Hunt-Frazier, Daniel Hunt, Sheila Hunt and Vicki Hunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Vonne was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Janis Lee (nee. McMullen) Hunt; a son, Antonio Stewart; a sister, Maria Hunt; grandson, Antonio Stewart, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Shirley Hunt; and grandparents, Arthur & Jimmie McMullen.

A funeral celebrating her life will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 3, 2026 at Divine Providence Baptist Church 7810 St. Joe Center Road (46835) with Rev. Dr. Michael A. Griffin, officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to services.
