Ann was born June 24, 1932, on a farm near Chillicothe to William Henry and Alice Connell Flynn. She attended the University of North Texas where she met her husband of 48 years, D.G. Chamberlain, who preceded her in death in 2000. After receiving her BA and master's of education at UNT, she and D were married in Washington, D.C., in 1952. She began her teaching career in Maryland, which she greatly enjoyed.
After settling in Fort Worth, Ann and D raised three children, David, Steve and Dee Ann. She was a devoted wife and mother, staying home with the children until they were older, when she returned to teaching as a first-grade teacher at Tanglewood Elementary in Fort Worth. Teaching first grade was one of Ann's joys and she was an outstanding teacher. She especially appreciated receiving Christmas cards from her students years after she had taught them.
Ann's greatest joy was her family, taking special pride in her children and her grandchildren, Daniel, Kristin, Michael and William. Her daughter-in-law, Diane, was a special caregiver and devoted to Ann, and her daughter-in-law, Sylvia, also loved her very much. Ann's children have fond memories of her warmly waiting for them when they arrived home from school, all the fun places she took them during summer break, like the swimming pool at GDRA, and the special home atmosphere she created for the holidays. She and D also took the family to numerous places across the U.S. on summer vacation. The family were active members of Westcliff United Methodist Church and Ann later became a member of Arborlawn Methodist Church.
Ann enjoyed antiques, travel, history, art and she kept an active mind and sparked the interests of others. She had a quiet strength about her that helped others. She lived by example and expressed a great kindness toward others. Her strong spirit was an inspiration, as she dealt with complications from Crest disease.
We loved her greatly and will miss her tremendously.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, D.G. Chamberlain, and sister, Olaine (Jody) Seibert.
Survivors: She is survived by her sister, Cara James (Frank); her three children, David Chamberlain (Diane), Steve Chamberlain (Sylvia) and Dee Ann Chamberlain; her grandchildren, Daniel (Taylor), Kristin, Michael and William; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
