THE LIFE OF A REMARKABLE WOMAN
Avanti Nichelle Hunter, affectionately known as “Nini” was born on September 8, 1987, in Fort Worth, Texas to Reginald Hunter and Darlene Johnson.
Avanti received her education from FWISD and graduated from O.D. Wyatt High School. She grew into a woman defined by purpose and resilience. Driven by a desire to serve her country, she enlisted in the United States Air Force, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned 19 years. Through dedication, leadership, and exceptional professionalism, she rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8)- a true testament to integrity, competence, and the respect she earned from all who served alongside her. During her enlistment in the US Air Force, she obtained an associate degree in information management, as well as many awards and accolades that highlighted her call to duty during her time served in the Global War on Terror in Afghanistan.
She later settled in San Antonio, Texas, still actively serving in the USAF with her two beloved children, Jarlei Banks and Messiah Hunter.
Avanti accepted Christ at an early age and grew steadily in her faith as she matured. Her early confession of faith became the foundation upon which she built a life of compassion, humility, and devotion.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Ladell Hunter Sr. and aunt, Tangy Johnson.
Our beloved Nini peacefully transitioned from life to gain her crown on November 4, 2025. Nini leaves to cherish her precious memories and carry on her legacy: her daughter, Jarlei A. Banks; her son, Messiah J. Hunter; her parents, Reginald J.
