Betty Jane Forbes

Betty was born July 19, 1938, in Rotan, Texas and attended Roby High School where she graduated in 1956. She worked briefly at Montgomery Wards in Fort Worth, Texas before dedicating herself to being a mother and homemaker. Betty was an excellent baker who excelled in making candies, desserts, and casseroles. She had many interests and hobbies. She loved collecting rocks and driftwood for her yard, scraps for quilts, and stuffed bunny rabbits. She could never have too many recipes.

She was a longtime member of Southcliff Church in Fort Worth and was very active in the community. Through the years, she worked with Southcliff and other faith-based outreach programs where she used her sewing skills tirelessly to provide quilts for those in need. She also spent much of her time visiting hospitals and nursing homes, delivering food, and finding ways to help and bring joy and comfort to others. She truly had a heart of gold and will be missed by many.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, William Carl and Stella Warren Martin; her first husband, Odell Eaton; her second husband, Lawrence Forbes; her brothers: Eddie Martin (wife Louise), Willie Martin (wife Christine), Ivin Martin, and Anson Martin; her sisters: Lillian Yates (husband James) and Geneva Thompson (husband IJ); and her grandson, Stephen Anthony Moore.

She is survived by her children: daughter Janey Eaton and son Carter Forbes and his wife Mandy; her siblings: brother Kenneth Martin and wife Barbara, and sisters-in-law Dorthy Martin and Beth Martin; her grandchildren: Stacey Marples (Mike), Ashton Moore, Kristy Woutzke (Cyle), Megan Culwell, and Kaleb Forbes; as well as numerous beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation for Betty will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.
