Mr. Calvin “Papa” Edwards Jr., the son of Calvin Edwards Sr. and Etta Mae Kiser, was born in Mont Alba, Texas on November 22, 1946. He entered into eternal rest on February 10, 2024. Calvin was raised by his grandparents Johnny (Bud) and Emma Kiser. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Green Bay High School (Tucker, Texas). Shortly after graduation, he was drafted to serve his country by the U.S. Army and actively participated in more than twenty-five aerial missions over hostile territory in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and received numerous awards and medals, including two purple hearts, for his heroism and rescue missions as a Specialist (E-4) with the 12th Calvary 2d Battalion.
Calvin worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 22 years, was active in his neighborhood watch program, and provided a safe space for endangered children as member of the Crime Watcher’s Association in Fort Worth. Although he was a stern disciplinarian, he was also generous, always spoke his mind, was a true friend who loved his friends unconditionally, and could even tell a good joke or two. Calvin also enjoyed traveling, fishing, dancing, WWE wrestling, and his beloved Dallas Cowboys!
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 36 years Mrs. Annie Lee Peeples Edwards, his sons Felton Edwards (Ligeia), and James Brown (April), daughters Chandra Coble (Willie) Georgia Hudson (Johnny), Sonya Ramsue (Julian), and Yolanda Hall. Calvin also has fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two surviving sisters Emma Jackson and Dulsie Robinson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
