Carolus Linnaeus Cornerll Carter departed this life on January 27, 2025. A man of deep
faith, remarkable intelligence, and boundless love, he leaves behind a legacy of wisdom,
resilience, and unwavering optimism.
Born on March 1, 1962, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to Marry McCrury (née Ludd) and Alvin
Carter, Carolus was raised in the heart of Los Angeles, California. There, he discovered
his passion for life, a deep commitment to service, and an enduring love for family. In
1980, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, later making Colorado Springs,
Colorado, his home. A man of many talents, Carolus navigated life with an open heart
and a sharp mind, always seeking to uplift those around him.
Life presented its challenges, but Carolus met them with grace, humor, and unshakable
faith. Known for his charismatic presence, sharp wit, and signature style, he proudly
proclaimed himself the “flyest man in a wheelchair.” His optimism was unmatched, and
he refused to let his disability define him, often reminding others, “Disability is not a
death sentence.”
Above all, Carolus was a man of deep understanding, a devoted grandfather, father,
brother, and friend. He was steadfast in his faith, committed to his divine purpose, and
dedicated to loving and helping others.
Carolus leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Sade Cooper; grandchildren,
Jaylen Cooper, Jada McNeil, and Kenneth McNeil; and two brothers, Russell and Derrick
Carter. His partner, Debrah Brown, who remained a loving and supportive presence in his
life.
He is preceded in death by his partner, Debrah Brown; his mother, Marry McCrury; his
father, Alvin Carter; his stepfather, Richard McCrury; and his sister, Letrah Avery.
Faith & Legacy- To add to the obituary.
Carolus lived by the word of God and held onto His promises. Two of his favorite
scriptures were:
📖 John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
📖 Proverbs 23:17-18 – "Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the
Lord all the day long. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut
off."
Carolus’s legacy of faith, love, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who had
the honor of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will continue
to inspire, uplift, and guide us. We find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace,
reunited with those who went before him, and watching over those he loved.
Rest well, Dad. You will forever be missed and never forgotten.
