

Born on July 5, 1944, in Allendale, SC, she was the middle child of the late Roy Mahue Frier and Evelyn Ernestine DeLoach Frier. She lived a life full of generosity, southern hospitality, unwavering faith, and service to others. For 58 years, she shared a deep & enduring love with her husband, David “Danny” B. Grubbs, Jr., serving beside him as a military spouse for 26 years and as a devoted pastor’s wife for 13 years. Her life was one of strength, perseverance, and purposeful service.
Cathy had a heart for ministry and found joy in helping others, especially through her involvement with the Woman’s Missionary Union, Girls in Action, & serving the young married at First Southern Baptist Church. Her guidance helped shape generations of young girls and young married couples in their faith and personal growth. To all those who had the privilege of knowing her, whether friends, neighbors, co-workers, or family, she was fun, vivacious, & full of laughter. She will be remembered for her kindness, strong faith, and the generosity she bestowed upon many.
More than anything, Cathy was the foundation of her family and cherished each one of them deeply. She is survived by her beloved husband, David “Danny”; daughters, Dana Beene and her husband, Lane of Crowley, TX; Eve Campbell and her husband, Rick, of Colorado Springs, CO; & Corrie Grubbs of Colorado Springs, CO; her grandsons, Wyatt Beene and Colin Campbell; granddaughters, Olivia Beene and Cate Campbell; nephews, Richard “Ricky” Newman and Briggs Ahearn, nieces, Caroline “Cissy” Stallings, Noel Rinehart, and Stephanie Grubbs; sister-in-law, Rita Ahearn, and brothers-in-law, G. Robert Newman and Steven R. Grubbs. She was preceded in death by her parents, adored sister, Dessie Newman, and brother Roy Mahue Frier, Jr.
