Charles Marroquin

April 1, 1930 – December 2, 2022

Charles Marroquin Sr., age 92, was called home with dignity and honor on December 2nd, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on April 1, 1930 to the late Manuel and Elvira (Ledesma) Marroquin in Austin, Texas.

Sergeant Charles Marroquin Sr. served as a Marine from 1948 to 1953. He was a Korean War Veteran who fought at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir as a part of the 1st Marine Division 3rd Battalion 7th Marine Regiment. He was among the legendary hero's history has named, “The Frozen Chosin''. He was decorated with two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Presidential Unit Citation awarded to units for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy. After his service, Charles’ dedication to his country and family inspired him to work in the forefront of many industries from selling iconic Studebakers, to opening a family Mexican food restaurant in Fort Worth named after his family, being the top salesman in the yellow pages, and later retiring from his own successful building supply business. Charles was larger than life. He never met a stranger and could laugh and hold a conversation with anyone about anything. He left his mark on the hearts of his friends and family who will miss him dearly.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lila (Reed) Marroquin, his children, Charlie Jr and Tedonna Marroquin, Kathy and Ricky Prailey and Leanna Rae and Tim Aranki. Other surviving and loved family members are his grandchildren, Tori Gustaf, Ethan, Nathan, and Michael Aranki, and his two great-grandchildren Harrison and Rhett Gustaf. He always had a great love and respect for his sisters Esther and husband Bill Walls, Sarah (who preceded him in death) and her husband Aaron Beltram, and Jean and her husband John Barton and thought the world of his nieces and nephews.

Charles Marroquin Sr. will be remembered as a man who believed in God, Country, Family & Corps. Semper Fidelis.
