Clara Corrine Allen was born to Gracie Mae and Claude Allen Sr. on the morning of August 1, 1946, in Lenapah, Oklahoma. She was the ninth of eleven children. Clara transitioned at home surrounded by loving family and friends, leaving a legacy of faith, love, and strength that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
Clara spent her adolescent years in Dewey, Oklahoma, surrounded by her many siblings. She attended Dewey High School and later went on to pursue her GED.
Clara gave birth to her first sons, Randy Brown and James Green, in Oklahoma before moving to Fort Worth, Texas, where she later welcomed Stanley Green and Carolyn Green. She later met and
married Charles Washington, and together they welcomed Sheryl Washington.
Clara had many career interests before eventually settling at General Motors, where she worked faithfully until retirement. She was also an active and loving grandmother who enjoyed taking her
grandchildren to community events and keeping them active in church. Her love for God was evident throughout her life. She was known as a prayer warrior and a pillar of wisdom. Clara often began her days in prayer, sometimes spending hours in her prayer closet. She was a longtime active member of ACTS Church before joining The Potter’s House of Dallas in 2002, where she remained a devoted member until her transition. Clara faithfully served in many areas of ministry, graduating from several church programs, including Lay Helpers. She also volunteered her time at conferences and at the services desk, and she was a proud member of the Elders Purple Team.
Clara had a smile as radiant as the beauty she carried within. From her nails, hair, makeup, and outfits, she was always known to be put together at all times—with just a little bit of sass. Her
family lovingly called her “Pretty Lady,” because she truly was just that.
When she was not at church, Clara enjoyed hosting gatherings for family and friends in her home, dancing, going to the gym, and watching her stories and Hallmark movies. She was hilarious and
often responded with witty and clever jokes, especially later in life. She was also always a helping hand, caring for others in their times of need.
Clara was preceded in death by her grandson, Marcus Green; mother, Gracie Allen; her father, Claude Allen Sr.; her brothers, Billy Allen and Claude Allen Jr.; and her sisters, Margarite Green,
Gwendolyn Wright, and Iola Cherry.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Shirley Quarles of Wichita, Kansas, and Sue Ann Allen of Fort Worth, Texas; her children, Randy Brown (Angelois), James Green, Stanley Green
(Bryana), Carolyn Green, and Sheryl Washington, all of Texas; her grandchildren, Tianna Wilds, Bryanna Green, Stanley Green, Brandon Green, Narissa Inocencio, Destiney Denning, Markia Green, Jamary Green, Jaylen Green, Shane Green, James Green, and Chrystial Green; and seven great-grandchildren.
