

David served 25 years Active Duty and Reserve Time in the U.S. Navy. He was a great motivator of people who would never quit and would always Get It Done. During his tenure, he was deployed to Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom. He later served as District 21 Commander of VFW, and served as Post Commander of 6872.
David was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Rotary Club.
David was very keen and eager deer hunter, and a lover of animals. His fondness for playful pranks and overwhelming laughter, along with his infectious smile will leave a most-lasting impression on all those who knew him.
He has fought all these years with life-threatening medical issues until the Lord brought him home November 15, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his sister Sharon Land Lawson, and Baby Boy Storlie.
He is survived by Paula Smith-Bowers, his forever soulmate, and a beautiful family of brothers and sisters: James "Pat" Painter, Jimmy "Buddy" Painter Jr., Toni White, Susanna Cheney, Robert "Butch" Land Jr., Charles Painter, Jimmy Patrick "Sonny" Painter, Jim Storlie, and Jayne (Storlie) Singleton.
A visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth, located at 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76134, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The Rosary will take place at St. Ann Catholic Church, 100 SW Alsbury Blvd, Burleson, TX 76028, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:30 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.
Burial will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 9:15 am. If you wish to follow the procession, please meet at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth on Thursday by 8:00 am in the back parking lot.
