

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gene Stanley on Monday, April 4, 2022 with his family by his side, after a bravely fought battle with cancer. Gene was born in Ripley, Tennessee to David L. and Helen Milam Stanley on June 6, 1935.
Gene was a self-made man who began a lifelong career with the glass business at the age of 20. He worked for Tayloe Glass in Tennessee, Binswanger Glass, Tarrant Glass and Sunbelt Glaziers in Fort Worth, which he co-owned. His greatest accomplishment was when he opened Stanley Glass Company in the mid 1980’s, with David and Rickey by his side.
His most enjoyed pastimes were fishing, hunting, horses and going to casino’s.
He was the much loved husband to Martha Rice Stanley for almost 69 years, come August. He was a very loving and devoted Pops, and Papa to David E. Stanley and wife Cynthia “Chip” Stanley, Victoria “Vicki” Adams, and nephew whom he loved like a son, Richard “Rickey” Milam and his wife Linda.
Gene loved and cherished his role as Grandad to Shannon Stanley, Casey Brunson and Alason Farmer. He was a proud Great-Grandad to Dru Farmer, Cameron Stanley, Raelynn Farmer, Addyson Farmer and his little sweetheart Carly Dee Brunson. He was a dear brother to his only sister Gail Stanley Shelton, who resides in Nashville, Tenn.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ann Jackson, brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Nelda Rice, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors whom he truly loved.
A visitation for David will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134. A committal service will occur at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
