Today we honor and celebrate a life that left a lasting imprint on every heart it touched—Ms. Dianne Hardy. A woman whose journey was filled with strength, devotion, and a quiet grace that spoke volumes without ever needing to be loud.
Dianne Hardy was born on March 13, 1954, to Earleaner Carter and R.L. Griffin. Her early years began in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she was raised by her mother and stepfather, James Maxine. In 1965, her family planted new roots in Fort Worth, Texas, a move that would shape the foundation of the woman so many came to know and love. There, she attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1972.
Dianne’s life was anchored in love, especially the love she had for her family. She gave birth to her one and only son, Sammy Lee Hardy Jr., who was not only her pride but her heart walking outside of her body. Through him, she experienced one of her greatest joys, her beloved granddaughter, Melinee Dianne Hardy. If you knew Dianne, you knew that her love for Melinee was deep, radiant, and unwavering. It was a love that lit her up from the inside out.
Her dedication extended beyond her family into her professional life. Dianne devoted 45 years of faithful service to Lockheed, where she built not just a career, but a community. The relationships she formed there were meaningful and enduring, surrounded by colleagues who became like family and stood beside her with love and support through every season, including her final days. That kind of loyalty and connection doesn’t happen by accident; it is a reflection of the kind of woman she was.
Dianne’s journey was not without loss, and yet she carried her strength with dignity. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son Sammy Lee Hardy Jr., her sister Catherine Carter, and her brother James Carter. Though their absence was deeply felt, we find comfort in knowing that there is now a beautiful reunion taking place—one filled with love, peace, and eternal rest.
She leaves behind a legacy that continues to breathe through those who loved her. She is survived by her cherished granddaughter, Melinee Dianne Hardy; her sister Kathy Ford; her brothers Arthur Carter and Curtis Maxie; her nieces LaTisha Ware and Earleana Maxie; her nephews Gregg Williams, Carvel Williams, Patrick Goodacre, Matthew Goodacre, and Curtis Goodacre; her cousins Pat Cain, Denise Bowman, John Carter, and Nathan Carter; her bonus son, James England; and a host of extended family and friends who will carry her memory forward.
As we reflect on Dianne’s life, we don’t just mourn, we honor. We honor a woman who showed up, who stayed committed, who loved deeply, and who built a life rooted in resilience and connection. Her story reminds us to hold our loved ones a little closer, to cherish the moments we’re given, and to live in a way that leaves love behind in every room we enter.
Today, we celebrate her life. We speak her name. And we carry her legacy forward, with intention, with love, and with gratitude.
