Doris Mae Lydia Mayer Overstreet, 95, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was a longtime resident of Mansfield, Texas, before moving to Aledo in her later years to be closer to family.
Born on May 26, 1930, in Rosebud, Texas, Doris was the daughter of Robert and Ida Lena Mayer. On November 9, 1949, she married Walter Virgil Overstreet in Haslet, Texas, and together they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and resilience.
Doris was known for her kindness, quick wit, strong faith, and her gift for bringing people together around her table. Her amazing cooking especially her Sunday lunches and holiday meals will always be remembered. She loved western and ballroom dancing, finding the best shopping deals, attending First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and tending to her beautiful garden. Doris had a remarkable way of making everyone who entered her home feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. Her legacy of love, strength, and faith lives on in her family and in the countless friends who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert John and Ida Lena Mayer; her husband, Walter Virgil Overstreet; and her sister, Dorothy Lowe.
Doris is survived by her children, Cliff (Paula) Overstreet, Craig (Allison) Overstreet, and Caron (Jay) Smith; her grandchildren, Natalie (Ben) Pulliam, Colby (Emalee) Bunch, Collin (Amy) Overstreet, Leslie (Daniel) Dollar, and Lindsey (Liam) Moore; and her great-grandchildren, Beau, Kirby, Tyler, Teddy, Grayson, Mackenzie, Jack, Aly, Kaitlyn, Noah; her sister, Lorene Harrell; and many beloved nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
