

Doris Mae (Lane) Rieger, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the home of her son Charles “Chuck” in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by her loving children. Born in Ft. Madison, Iowa on November 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Nellie (Ekins) Lane. She was the sister of the late Orville “Ozzie” Lane.
Doris married her beloved husband, Donald W. Rieger, in April 1952. The young couple lived in Michigan, Illinois, Massachusetts and Connecticut and welcomed five children, John, Chuck, Laura, Carol and Larry. Doris was widowed in 1967 and returned to Michigan. While in Michigan, Doris obtained her bachelor’s degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. She eventually moved to Venice, Florida and worked many years as the office manager for Allstate Insurance. In her later years she moved to Ft. Worth, Texas to be closer to her children. She worked in retail and also volunteered in the Benbrook public library. While living in Sunny Woods, Doris made many friends and enjoyed the activities. She was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed reading, playing cards and knitting. Most of all Doris was dedicated to her family.

Loving mother of John Rieger and his wife Susan of Wrentham, Massachusetts, Chuck Rieger and his wife Susan, Laura Carney and her husband Mel, Carol Rieger and her partner Mark Brewer all of Ft. Worth, Texas and Larry Rieger and his wife Tracie of Pearland, Texas.
Cherished grandmother of Michael Rieger and his wife Laurie of Massachusetts, Steven Rieger and his wife Ashley of Rhode Island, Jeffrey Rieger and his wife Yara of Massachusetts, Adam Rieger and his wife Tori, Sarah Carney, James “Buddy” Carney and his wife Bonnie, Scott Carney and his wife Stephanie, Eleena Rieger and Julia Rieger all of Texas and cherished step grandchildren of Keith Bunch and his fiance Kindle of Texas, Zane Gibbs and his fiance Lisa of California and the late Stephen Carter of Sugarland, Texas.
Also survived by 11 great grandchildren–Morgan, Matthew, James, Allie, Wyatt, Claire, Rilee Mae, Braxton, Brooklyn, Peyton, Ava and another great granddaughter due in July.
