

Doris Nell Debose-Stone, a devoted mother, grandmother, and lifelong caregiver, entered eternal rest on May 21, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 72. She was born on June 3, 1952, in Marlin, Texas, to the late John H. Debose Sr. and Mozella Kirk-Debose. Doris lived a life filled with compassion, unwavering faith, and a deep love for family and community. Her journey was one of quiet strength, kindness, and a selfless spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Dunbar High School’s Class of 1972, Doris began her early years managing several restaurants before opening her heart and home to care for children through her own home daycare and as a foster parent. Later in life, Doris pursued her calling in nursing, earning a nursing certificate and dedicating herself to restoring health and dignity to individuals with brain injuries. She retired after years of faithful and tireless service to care for her beautiful dear mother until her recent passing.
Doris had a profound love for helping others and a deep devotion to God and family. Her quiet strength, kind spirit, and soft-spoken nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Known for never meeting a stranger and her gift of gab, Doris had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. Her joy for life shone brightest when she was cooking a good meal and enjoying it just as much.
She is survived by her children: James W. Calton Jr. (Bobbie), Monica R. Coleman (Marlon), and George Dunn; Two honorary sons: Henry F. Debose and Will D. Debose, One Goddaughter: Brittani Williams; her siblings: James E. Debose Sr. (Tricia), John H. Debose Jr., and Pherris M. Debose; eight grandchildren: Karrigan C. Coleman, Damus D. Irvin Jr., Genqua Eshae Dunn ,Stephan Dunn, Kwame' Debose,
Veronica Debose, Ryleigh Debose and Blake Dunn; eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, John H. Debose Sr. and Mozella Kirk-Debose; her siblings, Melvin Hill Sr., Henry Wayne Debose , and Mary Annette Debose; and her special grandson, Giorgio Raleigh Debose.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, support, calls, visits, meals, flowers, and love shown during this difficult time. Your kindness has truly made a difference.
