

DOROTHY MAE DOUGLAS was born on October 31, 1936, to the late Sylvester Douglas Sr. and Leola Henderson Douglas in Jefferson, Texas. Dorothy was the fourth of eleven children born to this union.
Dorothy received her education at Central High School in Jefferson, Texas, and later moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where she united in holy matrimony with James Crowe Sr. on October 23, 1954. To the union of James and Dorothy Crowe Sr. were born three children: Larry Darnell Crowe Sr., Loretta Ann Crowe Williams, and Darian Jamal Crowe.
Dorothy worked domestically until after the birth of Darian, at which time she became a full -time, devoted mother and homemaker Dorothy was affectionately known as; "Big Mama“ to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age in Jefferson, Texas, and joined Outland Memorial AME Church upon moving to Fort Worth, Texas. She was a committed servant, singing in the choir, serving as a Youth Sunday School teacher, and actively performing missionary service work in the community. Dorothy later joined St. Stephen's AME Church, where she remained a dedicated and faithful member working for the Lord as she served wherever needed, singing in the choir and her most important responsibility was the annual event as Chairperson of Family Day raising almost a thousand dollars. Before Covid, Dorothy always enjoyed teachings and serving others until her failing health.
Dorothy enjoyed reading, word -search books, game shows, funny sitcoms, and ceramics. She also had a love for the game of football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. Dorothy always had a word of encouragement and offered spiritual guidance to all who entered her home. There was never a moment that "Big Mama" passed up a game of dominoes or spades with her children, grandchildren, and siblings during large family holiday gatherings filled with love, food, and fun. Dorothy especially loved homemade caramel cake and egg custard pies.
Dorothy shared an unwavering and special bond with all of her siblings and cherished the time spent with them whenever they came to visit. Dorothy was a loving and kind -hearted person to all whom she encountered. Your love will surely be missed but never forgotten.
