Dorothy Jane Hambrick

Dorothy was born 7/20/1919 in Ft Worth, TX, to parents John & Mary Card at 1316 Harrington, attened Denver Ave Elementary, then Northside Junior High, then Northside HS, then Draughn Business School 1yr, then went to work for Frank Ogilvie Attn 3yrs as a legal secretary, then worked for Ft Worth Fire Dept. For 4yrs as the first female employee, secretary to the Chief; attended North Fort Worth Baptist Church while growing up, baptized age 11, married there June 6, 1942 to Woody Charles Hambrick by Rev James Morgan, married for 42 yrs, was a homemaker, mother of three, and assistant to her husband in his optometry practice for many years. She was from the old school that believed that caring for her family full time was the most important work a wife and mother could possibly do and her children and husband agreed and greatly appreciated her long hours and sacrifices as she put them first place after God as her top priority and as a result her family and marriage was much more successful and long lasting than most. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, and that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life". She tried hard to put God first and others second and herself last as she sought to follow Christ's example and His words (Phil 2:4)

Survivors: She is survived by 2 sons, Chuck Hambrick & Roger Hambrick, one daughter-in-law Rachel Hambrick, one son-in-law Bill Poole, 2 gdtrs-Jenny Hambrick and Alison Poole, 2 nieces Jackie Sladovnik & Joanie Weisenbach, one nephew Bill McHarg Jr, one cousin Lois Card, three great nieces Nicole and Amber Sladovnik, & Emily Weisenbach, and one great newphew Matt Weisenbach.

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Woody C Hambrick 10/5/84 at 67 and her beloved daughter Frances Poole 10/23/2010 at 64.
