

Dottie Jones, 85, of Fort Worth, entered her heavenly home, Friday, January 26, 2018. She passed peacefully at home, and surrounded by her children. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 pm Sunday, February 4 at Shannon Rose Hill Chapel, 7301 E Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth.
Dorothy (Dottie) was born January 5, 1933 to T.C. and Lela Gardner in Annona, Texas. After moving to the metroplex in 1950, to attend business college, she married, and worked in the insurance industry. Her later occupations include real estate, bail bonds, caring for the elderly, and nanny to a family that became like her own. Dottie was warm and loving, adored by family and friends. She will be remembered for her unforgettable meals, her sincere caring nature, and wonderful manner of making people feel comfortable and accepted. She enjoyed reading, playing games, fishing, cooking, and special time with grandchildren. She had a genuine servant’s heart, and her life reflected a deep love and faith in Christ. She was a member of Bethel Fort Worth.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, T.C. and Lela Gardner, and daughter, Theresa.
Dottie leaves behind son, Gary Horton and wife Kelly; daughters Michele Peters and husband Jim, Celeste Kauffman and husband Allen; grandsons Reese Peters and wife Wendy, Ross Peters, Troy Peters; granddaughters Allison Horton, Samantha Horton, and Delayne Phillips; step grandchildren Jeffrey and Jackie Wilson; sister Naomi Warrick and husband Earl; niece Margo Wendt and husband Tim, and numerous loving relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
