Dorothy Poe Kelley

Dorothy Garrett Kelley went to be with Jesus on Monday, November 20, 2017 in Arlington, Texas. Funeral Arrangements: Family Graveside service, Saturday, November 25, 12:30 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home, Fort Worth, Texas Dorothy was born to Clarence G and Lela Calvin Garrett on January 5, 1923 in Sherman, Texas. They moved to Caldwell, Texas where Dorothy grew up. Upon moving to Houston she met and married Richard S. Kelley on June 3, 1950. They moved to Fort Worth where she taught English at Carter-Riverside Jr. High School. She was a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church where she sang in the Sanctuary Choir and the PraiSingers Choir. She loved her family and she loved Jesus and demonstrated that love in the way she lived her life. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard. The family would like to thank Tender Care Homes for Adults and Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving way they cared for Dorothy. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Travis Avenue Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Marcey Loyd, husband Carl, son Dick Kelley, wife Tami, grandchildren, Jennifer Ardoyno, Brooke Granger, Cyndi Woodward, Lauren Zimmerman, Bryan Loyd and Kelley Sala, along with 12 great-grandchildren, family and friends.
