To put it in simplest form ... to me she was the sweetest, best mother in the world.  I loved her dearly and miss her immensely.  Loosing her to Alzheimer's over the years was very painful.  I am comforted that she is in a perfect, peaceful place ... to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord.

Dorothy married my Daddy's much younger baby brother, Bonnie, when I was 6.  Dorothy and my older sister, Dale, were best friends.  So my sister's best friend became our aunt.  Dorothy was always such a sweet, quiet lady with such a soft voice.  She was truly a Christian lady, mother, wife, and a friend to many.  She lived a true Christian example to all who knew her.  My sympathy to all her family.

I met Dorothy when I was about 11 years old.  I remember this meeting very well because it would be the first time to meet the "In Laws".  Yes, our family had already met Dennis, that was going to be my new brother in law.  Now what does a brother in law mean to an 11 year old girl?  Well, she really doesn't know except he's going to marry her sister and then he'll be a brother of the "In Laws" that will be introduced at some point before this big party called a wedding!  A few months later our family, the William J. Grubbs family will be meeting the other family and then we will all be one big family!  That's the perception of an 11 year old girl.  The first meeting was at our home.  I was so excited to meet the kids.  Dennis had 2 sisters about my age.  Oh!  I knew we would hit it right off...and we did.  We loved to sing, dance, play the piano, and most of all play camp meeting downstairs while the adults were in the so called formal areas doing there thing, whatever that was.  Camp meeting to us meant doing what they do at camp meeting, that is, singing, dancing and shaking our hair all over the place.  Then we would hear this sweet little voice, you know, with that cute little southern draw saying:  "Now girls, you need to quiet down and settle down....and you shouldn't be doing that.  I don't think God would like that very much."  That was Dorothy.  I can still hear her.  We all did become very close.  Dorothy was the best cook you'd ever want.  She made the best Mexican food....and her's was the first time we had it.  It was the best!  We all had so many good times together.  All we did was cook, eat, go to church and so many fun times!  She was a best friend, a good wife and mother, a good pastor's wife and meant so much to me.  I'm so glad to have known her.  Dorothy, you will be greatly missed but I know you are inside those pearly gates with all those you love, talking to Jesus, and you are now waiting for us to join you too someday.  You were and are beautiful inside and out.  I love you and am so happy that you are home at last.      Billiejean Grubbs Morrow
