Dorothy Lee Warren

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 11th at 10:00am at Laurel Land Funeral Home, Chapel of Chimes 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, Texas.

Dorothy was born on January 20, 1920 to Bessie and Charlie Rainwater in Quinton, Oklahoma. She loved growing up in the small town of Council Hill, OK where she had fond memories of her wonderful family, church and school. She married her high school sweetheart, Bob Warren, on October 20, 1945. Due to Bob's Air Force career, they moved several times, particularly enjoying their time in the Philippines. As typical, Dorothy made lifelong friends in all the places they lived.

Dorothy and Bob with their children, Shelley and Mark, settled in Fort Worth where Dorothy lived for 50 years. They joined Western Hills United Methodist church where Dorothy was a founding member of the Altar Guild. She dearly loved her church and church family. She volunteered for many church activities including more than 20 years delivering Meals on Wheels with her good friend, Becky Riibe. Dorothy "retired" from Meals on Wheels at age 90. Dorothy and Bob enjoyed their retirement years traveling and socializing with family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always wore a smile. She was very close to her siblings throughout their lives as well as having many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Warren, sisters Alta Duty, Marie Hensley, Aleeta Robinson and brothers Sebren Rainwater and Ken Rainwater.

She is survived by her daughter Shelley Warren and her wife, Karen Koon, son Mark Warren and his wife, Clare, sister-in-law Mary Warren, numerous nieces and nephews and friends including her friend of over 65 years, Betty Johnston.

The family would especially like to thank Sonia Sosa for taking wonderful care of Dorothy the last few years. They are also grateful to the staff of Legacy at Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Western Hills United Methodist in Fort Worth or Meals on Wheels, Tarrant County, TX.
