Douglas Michael Ford passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the age of 82. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 25, 1942 to Herman Douglas Ford and Rosalie Umphress Ford. Doug was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Texas. He received Jesus Christ as a child while attending Evans Avenue Baptist Church, where he also formed lifelong relationships with many cherished friends.
Doug learned to love music at an early age, taking piano lessons for several years. He was once featured in a Fort Worth Star Telegram article highlighting his dedication to his piano instruction and his ability to balance it with his school work, athletics, and church activities. Doug graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 1960. He attended Hardin Simmons University and the University of Texas at Arlington.
Doug began dating Delois (Dee) Butalla during the summer of 1966. His charming ways won her over and they married a year later. They were subsequently blessed with three daughters: Robin, Christie, and Holly. Doug was loved, respected and admired by his family as the “Man of the House”. When that role became a burden (as it sometimes could), he endured it cheerfully, patiently and gracefully. He was devoted to his four girls, providing for them, protecting them, and loving them through the sunny days and occasional storms of life.
Doug retired from Lockheed Martin in 2007, where he served as Manager of Plant Facilities. In retirement, he enjoyed working seasonally in security for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo for 14 years.
Doug enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including golfing, traveling, antiquing in Round Top, TX, camping, fishing, and houseboating on Lake Ouachita. His grandchildren were often by his side on these adventures and were blessed to have enjoyed them with him as they created treasured memories together. When at home and not doing yard work, he could often be found working a crossword puzzle, reading a John Grisham novel, playing cards or dominoes or working a jigsaw puzzle.
Doug had the heart of a servant, and volunteering was an important part of his life. He looked forward to his weekly work at Christian Community Assistance, preparing food for distribution and offering kindness to clients and fellow volunteers. He also served as a volunteer at Ridgecrest Conference Center in North Carolina for summer sessions.
For the past 42 years Doug was a devoted member of South Hills Baptist Church, later Redemption City Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon, Sunday school director, and member of numerous committees. He also found great joy in lending his tenor voice to the church choir and the H.I.S. Men’s Quartet.
Doug lived his life each day loving his Heavenly Father, his family, and his friends. He did not know a stranger and had a kind and generous heart for those in need.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Rosalie Ford. He is survived by his wife Dee Ford; daughters Robin Brazell (Wes), Christie Nasrallah (Fadi), and Holly Cole (Darrin); grandchildren Trent Brazell, Leah Brazell, Gage Brazell, Caroline Nasrallah, and Anna Nasrallah. He is also survived by sisters Brenda Ford and Susan Garrett, sister-in-law Donna Terry, and nephew Chad Terry (Anne).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Redemption City Church, 7350 Granbury Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76123. The family will be present at the church at 1:00 p.m. that day for visitation prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Redemption City Church in memory of Doug Ford.
