Lt. Col. Stamm was born January 7, 1922 to Dr. Eugene C. Stamm and Ada Stamm in St. Louis, MO. He was attending The University of San Francisco before volunteering into the Army Air Corps at the outbreak of WWII. He served as a Bomber Pilot in the European Theater. Upon returning to the U.S. he met his wife, Mary B. Rankin, while serving as an Instructor Pilot at Victorville, CA AFB. During the Korean Conflict while stationed on Guam he served as a Sea Air Rescue Pilot. He then returned to the U.S. and retired as Squadron Commander of the 43 Bomb Wing in 1966. He then went to work at LTV as an Aerospace Engineer. He was father of 5 children, and an avid outdoorsman.
Lt. Col. Stamm was preceded in death by children, Valerie Gene Stamm, Sally Lynn Coker, Richard William Stamm; and grandson, Austin Lee Stamm.
He is survived by his wife, of 72 years, Mary Bettye; children, Eugene "Bud" Stamm (Annette), Mark Lee Stamm (Belinda); grandchildren, Ragan Aguilera (Oscar), Ryan Coker (Krystal), Travis Stamm (Pamela), Clayton Stamm, Jolie NeSmith, Judd NeSmith; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Brannam; and son-in-law Tom Coker.
