

Fred was a proud alum of Hobart High School, Hobart, OK class of 1949. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in the Canal Zone as a medical laboratory technician. After an honorable discharge in 1954, he attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1958 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
He joined Mobil Oil Corp. in Dallas as a Sales Engineer in Commercial Sales, Special Products, advancing to Area Manager and Product Manager, Desiccants. In 1982 he joined Weskem, Inc., in Houston where he promoted sales of natural gas processing chemicals and solid adsorbents. In 1990 he became minority owner and general manager of Filcore, Inc., in Houston. The company’s objective was acquiring sales of refrigeration and air conditioning components manufactured by Valycontrol, in Guadalajara, Mexico. In 1997 he developed his own consulting firm for brokering sales of refrigeration related products. Simultaneously, he began working as a tax preparer for H & R Block and continued as a Senior Tax Advisor. His affiliations were ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers) and various gas processing associations. In addition, he was a proud member of the OU Alumni Association and former member of University Park United Methodist, John Wesley Methodist, First United Methodist of Ft. Worth, and First United Methodist of Chula Vista.
He is survived by wife of 55 years Virginia Carey Polley. His children John, Bruce (wife Caroline), Rebecca, and their mother Sidney Polley. Daughters Sarah (husband Lee) and Elizabeth (husband Carlos). He is also survived by sister Susan, niece Cindy (wife Lesley), eight grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Patrick, Johnnie, Tom and Terry, brother-in-law Ken, and sister-in-law Patti.
