George Hampton Elliott, Jr of Keene, TX passed away on April 6, 2026 at age 81. Born to George and Mary Bess Gillock Elliott on October 30, 1944, George was the older brother of John Edward Elliott of Fort Worth. A graduate of Paschal High School and Weatherford College, George's career in the oil services industry with Halliburton and M and M Services in Houston took him many places. He especially enjoyed the time spent on business in Alaska and along the Gulf coast.
George loved people, laughter, and storytelling. He never met an animal he didn't like and that didn't like him. His cockatoo Blanco was with him for over 50 years. Among George's passions were animal rescue, boating, flying small planes, scuba diving, trips to Luling with his nephews, and deep sea fishing. George's memories of summers spent with his brother and cousins at their grandmother's house in Keene during their growing up years were among his favorites. He chose to retire in Keene and always took an interest in what was going on in the community. In recent years, he enjoyed celebrating the USA by driving his Model A in the city's 4th of July parade.
George leaves behind his brother John (Mary Mac); nephews John Shelton Elliott and Kenton McGill Elliott (Tiffany);great-nieces Adelaide, Delilah, and Lilli; great-nephew Gabe; and cousin Amy Gillock Lingo (Scott) and family. A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The Humane Society of North Texas or to Saving Hope Animal Rescue in George's name.
George Hampton Elliott, Jr was one of a kind! He loved making life fun for others, offered a listening ear and advice, gave a home to animals in need, and took an interest in the lives of his family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
