Helen Doris Homesley

Helen was born on March 7, 1929 at her home in Ft. Worth, TX. Helen was the youngest of 4 siblings, and had a relatively normal, happy childhood, with the traumatic exception of losing her father to a terrible accident at the age of 6.

In her high school years, Helen was a drum majorette at Trimble Tech High School in Ft. Worth. One proud moment during that time was when she marched in a big parade in Ft. Worth, and John Wayne served as Grand Marshall!

After high school Helen married her 1st husband, L.D. Holt, and later gave birth to her daughter Pam.

Helen was always a hard worker, with numerous careers throughout her life, including spending many years during the 1970’s working for Byrd Photography. Along with another previous husband, Helen began shooting professional photos of stars like Elvis Presley and Liberace, as well as being a pro wedding photographer. During the 1980’s, Helen worked as a Nurse/Technician at The Weight Control Clinic of Ft. Worth until she retired.

Helen was married several times in her life, but her “love of a lifetime” was with Bill Reid, from the late 1970’s until his passing in the 1990’s. She and Bill traveled a great deal during their time together, but her favorite 2 places were always NYC and Las Vegas.

In her later years, Helen remained a single, independent woman, who loved her family tremendously.

Helen fought a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia until her passing on the evening of Monday, July 14th 2025.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Samuel P. Crowder and Ethel Eggleston-Crowder, Of Ft. Worth, Her Siblings, Janice Purvine of Ft. Worth, Willis Crowder, of Ft. Worth and Bernie Crowder, of Colleyville, and her daughter Pam Holt-Tuggle-Griffith, and husband Gary of Ft. Worth.

Helen is survived by her Grandsons, Alan Tuggle & Wife Kelly of North Richland Hills; Garek Griffith of Burleson and Chris Griffith & Wife Christina of Haslet. She is also survived by Her Great granddaughters, Tara Moore of Alvarado and Marina Griffith of Haslet, Great Grandsons, Alex Tuggle of Keller and Chris Griffith Jr. of Haslet; Great, great grandchildren, Brayden & Olivia Moore of Alvarado, Josiah, Ezra and Malakai Cantu of Haslet, and Nephews Sam Crowder & Wife Jane and Mike King of Ft. Worth, as well as many great Nieces and Nephews, and great-great Nieces & Nephews, all of which she loved very much.

Services for Helen are still pending. The family will be notified when a date is set.
