

Helen was born February 19, 1927, in Odell, Texas to Adron and Nell Archer Flowers, where she grew up on her family farm and graduated with honors from Odell High School.
Helen married Waymon Messick on February 24, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and were lovingly married for 63 years. Waymon and Helen then moved to Lubbock, Texas where Helen worked at the Texas Tech library to help put Waymon through college, they cherished their years in Lubbock. After Waymon’s graduation they relocated to Ft. Worth, Texas where they made many lifelong friendships. Waymon and Helen eventually moved to Burleson, Texas where she worked at Burly Corporation until her retirement. She considered her co-workers at Burly her second family and loved them dearly. In recent years Helen resided in Stephenville, Texas to be close to her family.
Helen was a devout and dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and gave praise to God for all the blessings in her life. Helen adored her family, friends and especially her two granddaughters Caitlyn and Breanna, the lights of her life.
Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Mindy and Wayne Wooley, granddaughters Caitlyn Wooley and Breanna Wooley, very special nieces Sandy Turner and Janis Flynn, niece Kathy Coffee and husband Sonny, special nephews Joby Lucas, Rodney Johnston and wife Nancy, great nieces T’era Flynn and Casey Burns, great nephews Tim Darby, Shaun Johnston, Ty Coffee, Chance Johnston, Chad Johnston, her dear friend of 70 plus years Kaye Jones, and many more extended family and friends.
Helen is proceeded in death by her beloved husband Waymon Messick, her parents Adron and Nell Flowers, her brothers Melton “Son” Flowers and Judson “Bill” Flowers, her sisters Beryl Flowers Johnston and Frances Flowers Craighead, nephews Larry Johnston and Don Flowers.
A graveside service will be held Friday August 30, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Ft. Worth. A viewing for family and dear friends will be held at 10:00 a.m.
