Early Wednesday morning on April 1, 2026, at the age of 76, Ivory "Pee Wee" Owens transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home. Ivory was born on March 7, 1950, in Philippi, Tennessee to the parents of Chester and Josephine Lake, his first wife. Chester then remarried Annie Pearl Owens. They all preceded Ivory in death.
Ivory graduated from John Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois. He was affectionally nicknamed “Pee Wee” by his family because of his stature. He learned hard work by starting off working in the Skill Tool and A Lard Grease Company with his father Chester Owens. At the tender age of 16, Ivory married his first wife: Gwendolyn Owens Howard (deceased). From this union, he had 2 daughters. Ivory later started working at Castle Bakery as an 18-wheeler truck driver. He loved his position so much; he decided to purchase his own truck and became an independent contractor. He was also an avid lover of motorcycles, and he would often take his siblings and children on joy rides. Ivory became a great mechanic over the years as he traveled to many states, turning over trucks and rebuilding engines for fellow truckers. He inspired many other family members to include his children to become truck drivers.
Ivory later married his 2nd wife Betty Owens, his best friend and love of his life for 44 years. From this union there were 1 son and 3 daughters. After retiring from the road due to his health, Ivory enjoyed spending time with family playing spades, UNO, and Dominos. Ivory accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior after becoming an avid fan of watching Bill Winston and Joel Osteen on television to increase his faith. He also enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows-Rifle Man, Animal Kingdom and history channel. He was also a lover of football and basketball.
