Jackie Duane Defoor was born on January 9th, 1938, in Davidson, Oklahoma to parents James and Stella Defoor. He graduated from Oklaunion High School in 1958. After graduating, he joined the army and served until 1961. He married his sweetheart, Anita Edwards, on September 9th, 1961, in Frederick, OK. In 1968, they moved to Dallas, TX where he enrolled in trade school to fulfill a career in welding. Jackie was a selfless father who devoted his time coaching his daughter’s basketball and softball teams. Jackie was a social, active man who was a member of Holly Brook Baptist church and had a deep love for the game of golf. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He will always be remembered as a funny and caring man.
Jackie is preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Stella Defoor; sister, Norma Lee Houtchens; brothers, Garland and James Defoor; and his beloved dog, Dottie.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anita; his daughter, Shelby Davidson, and her husband, Glen Davidson, of Fort Worth, TX; his granddaughters: Megan Stiller, and husband, Chris, of Fort Worth, TX and Mackenzie Reiter, and husband, Austin, of Lindsay, TX; his sisters: Doris Gaither, and husband, James, and Mary McElroy; and his sisters-in-law: Brenda Defoor and Frances Defoor. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Harper and Lincoln Stiller; Scarlett, Sawyer, and Olivia Reiter; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Memorials: Flowers can be sent to Holly Brook Baptist Church and expression of sympathy may be made to the Holly Brook Baptist Church Building fund.
