

Funeral arrangements will be held at 11:00, November 26, at Laurel Land Chapel on Crowley Road with visitation immediately preceding the service. Interment will be at Everman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Jim requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
He served in the United States Army and spent several months in Greenland where he was cited for meritorious service in the 5th Missile Battalion, 517th Artillery. He was honorably discharged in 1968. He graduated from North Texas University with a Bachelor’s degree in industrial arts and later earned a Master’s degree in Education from the same university. He was married to Linda Cruze Bankston in Denton, Texas in 1960. Jim was a high school teacher in several districts, an industrial technology instructor at Everman High School, and ultimately the financial manager at that district. He then enjoyed a successful career as a vice-president of Plant Operations at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth until that hospital closed. He loved working in his shop and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a Christian and a member of South Park Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Jim was preceded in death by Linda Bankston, his wife of 52 years, and his parents Fred Christopher and Lanora Azelia Powell Bankston. He is survived by his son, James Robert Bankston and his wife, Jamie, of Granbury and son, Kenneth Wayne Bankston and wife, Mandy, of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Clayton (and wife, Jordan), Kathryn, Brandon, Ali Simmel (and husband Ty), and Ashley; four great-grandchildren, Eleigh, Waylon, Sonnet and Juniper; two sisters, ElaRuth McCullough of Nacogdoches and Freda Porter of Hico. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bridgewater Care Center (formerly Arbor House) in Granbury and Community Hospice for loving Pop so well.
