James "Jim" Elmer Cumbee Sr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James (Jim) E. Cumbee Sr., who left us on December 24th, 2025, at the age of 92. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Born on September 30th, 1933, in McClellanville, South Carolina, James (Jim) E. Cumbee Sr., was the child of Silas and Rosa Cumbee. Throughout his life, he was known for his humble attitude, his willingness to go above and beyond to help those in need, and his loyalty to family and country. Jim devoted his time and energy to acts of service, a love for wildlife, and his personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

James (Jim) E. Cumbee Sr. is survived with deep sorrow by his wife Betty Cumbee (wife of 64 years), James E. Cumbee Jr. (son), Angela E. Cumbee (daughter in law), Rachel E. Cumbee and Caroline G. Cumbee (granddaughters), David J. Cumbee (grandson), all of Fort Worth, Texas. Three siblings, Jack Cumbee, Cleva Mims of South Carolina, and Jessie Bright of Atlanta, Georgia.

James (Jim) E. Cumbee Sr. was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brothers, Olin Cumbee, Altman Cumbee, Calvin Cumbee, and sister, Mary Cumbee, all of South Carolina.

The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of James E. Cumbee Sr.’s Life on January 2nd, 2026, at 11:00 AM, Located at Laurel Land Memorial Park, with visiting and reception to follow at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Address 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
