

Jim was born on November 22, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas to parents Langdon and Helen Reaves. He graduated from Carter Riverside High School in 1958, and then entered UTA where he participated in the ROTC and received a Bachelor’s in Mathematics in 1964.
After graduation, Jim joined the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Korea serving on the DMZ as a Forward Observer, and later promoted to 1st Lieutenant. Jim also enjoyed playing in the Army basketball league.
Jim worked for AT&T for 27 years and retired in 1991 as a 3rd line District Plant Engineer. He was a fierce competitor meeting and exceeding all his goals.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of Glen Garden and Ridglea Country Clubs. He made several holes in one and a double eagle.
He was an active member in his church, holding several offices on the church board of the New Hope Fellowship. He especially enjoyed fellowship dinners and participated any way possible.
He loved to support and go watch his grandkids in the activities they loved, but not only his grandkids, but all the kids in his life including nieces, nephews, children at church, and those he considered to be his own.
Jim was a generous and loving family man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survived by: Rhonda Reaves, wife of 35 years, daughter Jamie Talbot and husband Bill, daughter Laurie Barnett and husband Steven, son, Ron Perkins, daughter, Rochelle Strittmatter and husband Ryan.
Grandchildren: Samantha Olson and husband Craig, Jacob Perkins, Shelby Thomes, Sandy Strittmatter, and James Barnett.
Great grandchild: Carter Olson
