James Douglas Shanley

He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Serving stateside to keep our airmen flying safely. He worked at IBM for the majority of his civilian career ending as a System Specialist.

James affectionately known as Jim, Doug, dad, and papa was a wonderful supportive big brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was the leader and rock of the family, his laughter, witty sarcasm and “sage” advice will be dearly missed. We are forever grateful for all the wisdom you imparted to help us become the family we are today. You will always be in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Loretta and James P Shanley, younger brother John Shanley, and great grandson Anthony James. He is survived by his spouse: Brenda Shanley, daughters: Tonya Preas and Brigetta Shanley, sisters: Patricia Eagan Dean and Kathryn Campo, and brother Kenneth Shanley.

Interment to proceed at DFW National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211 at 10:00 am Friday March 1, 2024

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Dignity Memorial, Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel on Friday March 1, 2024. at 12:00 pm 6001 Rufe Snow Drive, Fort Worth, 76148, following the interment at the cemetery.
