James Earl Sims

James Earl Sims, 73, passed away Sunday April 16, 2023 in the presence of his family in Fort Worth, Texas. James was born in Woodlake, CA and his family moved to Texas when he was a child. He served his country in the U.S. Army with several tours in Viet Nam. After his discharge from the U. S. Army he spent several years at Darr Equipment before joining the IT department at Methodist Health Systems of Dallas. He retired from MHD after 34 years.

James enjoyed golfing, fishing, gambling, playing cards and board games, and last but not least family gatherings. He is going to be missed greatly by his family and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Farest and June Sims; brothers, Vernon Sims and William Sims; sister, Margaret Parker; sister-in-love, Paula Sims; and brother-in-love, John Mowery.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Cathy; daughter, Catherine McKay and husband John; son, Petty Officer 1st class J. Brantley Sims and wife Megan; and four grandchildren; Henry and Ava McKay, and Oliver and Sophie Sims; brothers, Richard and wife Mary Jane Sims, Thomas and wife Teresa Sims, and Danny and wife Brenda Sims; sister, Vera Mowrey; brother-in-love, Nathan Parker; and five nephews, eight nieces, and too many great nieces and nephews to count at this point.
