J.D. was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 14, 1936. He was the sixth child of the late Orville and Marie Dockery.
J.D. was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Evelyn.
J.D. served his country proudly in both the Marine Corps and Air Force. While stationed in Japan, Korea, and Germany, he perfected his skills to later earn his A&P license and become an excellent aircraft mechanic. He worked his 33-year career at Bell Helicopter in Hurst, Texas, retiring as a Flight Mechanic in 1995.
J.D. was an amazing scratch golfer in his younger years and won numerous Bell Helicopter Golf League tournaments. Golf was his individual hobby, but he also spent many, many weekends over a decade and a half teaching his boys to fish, camp, and enjoy the great outdoors. Camping and fishing were quite often a family affair, by including the ladies, his late wife Evelyn and daughter Angela.
