Byron was born at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas on May 26,1945. He graduated from R.L. Paschal High School. He served his country honorably by joining the US Army from 1968-1970 as an Armored Recon Unit Commander with the 1st Cavalry in Vietnam. There he earned the Bronze Star.
He attended Dallas Baptist University receiving a Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences in Pastoral Ministry. Later he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary earning a Masters of Divinity with a focus in Biblical Language.
Byron had a 43 year career in handling mail for The U.S. Postal Services. He was an active member of Meadowridge Community Baptist Church where he was a teacher for his life group. He was mission focused particularly for Honduras, the Czech Republic and Poland with a passion for spreading God's word.
Byron also had a deep appreciation for Mustang horses. He was a member of the International Andalusian & Lusitania Horse Association and the Spanish Mustang Registry.
He enjoyed and cared for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents JB & Lula Bernice Kelly, and sisters Janice, Carolyn, & Barbara. Survived by sister Linda Anderson. Nieces & Nephews: Brenda Roberson, Linda Gibson, Rhonda Rinehold, Kelly Nowlin, Kerri Oman, Kent Nowlin, Kristen Bertonlini, Robert Anderson, Chris Anderson and all their many children.
A visitation for Byron will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth, 7100 Crowley Road Fort Worth, Texas 76134. Following the visitation will be a committal at 1:15 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
