FORT WORTH -- Jerry Vernon Griffith, 76, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, in Fort Worth. Jerry was born in Sherman on Sept. 11, 1939, to Ersle and Billie Griffith. He attended Austin College in Sherman. He worked for IBM for 30 years, was self employed for 10 years, and was commissioned as a North American Missionary of Food Distribution and served the poor and needy for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Lynn Griffith. Survivors: His wife of 55 years, Barbara Good Griffith; son, Randy Griffith and wife, Tammy; daughter, Gina Turnbow and husband, Brandon; grandchildren, Carissa Tucker (Paul), Scott Crombie, JR Griffith (Ashton), Justin Griffith, Jack Griffith, Jessica Griffith and Brianna Turnbow; great-grandson, Ryker Griffith and another great-grandson due in December; brother, Terry Griffith; and sister, Dorothy Griffith, both of Sherman. The four grandsons and son-in-law, Brandon Turnbow and Paul Tucker will be pallbearers. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Friday in the Prayer Garden in Laurel Land Cemetery.
