After graduating high school, Jim joined the United States Army in 1949. He served proudly during both the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict earning amongst many medals two bronze stars. Jim was fortunate to be able to see much of the world while in the Army. He was stationed in Hawaii, Germany and England to name a few. He retired from the Army in 1969 after twenty years of dedicated service. When Jim returned home he dabbled in owning his own nursery, surveying for the highway Department, and helping construct bridges across the metroplex. Jim married Carolyn on July 17, 1981. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time with children, grandchildren and recently great grandchildren. His retirement afforded him the time to be involved at the VFW and the American Legion where he could be found calling out bingo. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, caring step-father, doting grandfather and great grandfather.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and a grandson, Chris.
