

Jimmy Smith, 91, passed peacefully Sunday, July 20th, 2025 after a long journey with dementia. Born in Konowa, OK, he was a long-time resident of Ft. Worth and a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church. He was a State Farm Insurance agent for 40 years in South Fort Worth and proudly served in the United States Air Force for two years during the Korean War.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 1st from 6-8pm and a Memorial Service will be Saturday, August 2nd at 2pm with Graveside following. Both will be at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Rd., Ft. Worth, 76134. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations on his behalf be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-North Central Texas Chapter, Ft. Worth.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Leona Smith, daughter, Shelia Sampson, brothers Earl and Don Smith, and his parents Delbert and Freda Smith.
Survivors: son Dr. Greg Smith of Castle Rock, CO., son & daughter-in-law Roger & Donna Smith of Keller; son-in-law Richard Sampson of Katy; daughter-in-law Melinda Smith of Castle Rock, CO; seven grandchildren: Kim Sampson, Crystal Schwartz (Scott), Kristy McRoberts (Brent), Collin Smith (Lyla), Clinton Smith (Alexis), Jordan Wright (John), and Joshua Smith; and 7 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Kaitlyn, & Kassidy Schwartz; Richard McRoberts; Lyv & Emmy Smith; and Ivy Wright.
