John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose greatest joy in life was his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Judy Brannen; his parents, N.Q. and Lois Brannen; and his sister, Debbie Hash. He is survived by his children: Joe Brannen and wife Angie, Lori Moore and husband Wesley, and Jody Redding and wife Joni. He was a devoted grandfather to Ryan and wife Emily, Ellie, Jacob, and Cole Redding; Bryce and Brooklyn Brannen; and Mallory, Madison, and Mia Moore, as well as a great-grandson, Haddon Redding, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
After graduating from Poly High School in 1966, John attended Texas Wesleyan University, where he played baseball and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1970. He began his career in the family business, Brannen Grocery, before working in the fire safety industry with Pol-Lee Fire Extinguisher. He later retired from American Alarm and Suppression in 2017 after decades of dedicated work.
John will always be remembered for his warm heart, infectious sense of humor, big laugh, and steady presence. He loved playing cards, fishing, and watching sports, but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. He showed his love in simple yet meaningful ways—attending special events and making regular phone calls to check on his children and grandchildren so he could hear about their challenges and successes. John, Dad, Pawpaw had a special way of making everyone feel loved, safe, and important, simply by being himself.
His life will be remembered for love, dedication, and family. John taught those around him the value of hard work, showing up, staying connected, and loving without condition. While his absence leaves an ache that cannot be filled, his spirit lives on through the family he cherished so deeply.
The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of John Brannen’s life on February 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home, located at 7100 Crowley Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76134. They deeply appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this time. John’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
