Louis "Bruce" Coryell Jr.

Louis “Bruce” Coryell was born in Highland, Michigan on July 17, 1931, the only child to Louis B. Coryell, Sr. and Martha Nieman Coryell. He attended high school in Redford, Michigan and earned his degree from the University of New Mexico in 1952. While in college, Bruce’s mother passed away, and his step-mother, Florence M. Coryell played a vey important part in his young adulthood. He served two years in the Army and completed a tour of duty in South Korea. He went on to work as a supervisor at General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan. He retired from GM in June, 1986 after 36 yeas of service.

On June 18, 1977, he married Lavera Johnson (Coryell). Although Bruce did not have any biological children, he gained four adult step-children, Albert, Peggy, Beverly and Sandra. In December, 2015, he relocated from Pontiac, Michigan to Fort Worth, Texas.

On Wednesday, March 7, 2018, our beloved Bruce peacefully passed away at his home in Fort Worth. He was 86 years old. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lavera, his step-children, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, family and friends.

He will be greatly missed, and he was indeed loved by all who knew him.
