

On June 19, 2017, the Lord plucked a rose, Lou Reddic Roy, (Louise) from his beautiful garden. Lou was born on April 4, 1944 in Kilgore, Texas to the parents of Effie Kate Manns Reddic and Money Preston Reddic. She accepted Christ at an early age at Harmony Pirtle Baptist Church in Overton, Texas. Lou attended London Schools. After graduating Cum Laude from C.B. Dansby High School in Kilgore, Texas in 1961, Lou earned an Associate of Arts in Business Education, Magna Cum Laude, from Tyler District College in Tyler, Texas in 1964. She met the love of her life, Willie Fred Roy, at Texas College. Lou married Willie on August 4, 1964 in Kilgore, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management, Cum Laude, from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas. Lou completed the Elementary Alternative Certification Program in Fort Worth ISD.
Lou had over 50 years of experience as an educator. She spent five years as Secretary to the Dean of Students at Jarvis Christian College; twelve years as Senior Secretary to the Chairman of the Psychology Department at Texas Christian University and fifteen years as School Secretary with Fort Worth ISD; twelve of the fifteen years were with T.A. Sims Elementary. She served as Testing Support Staff Member and taught 3rd and 4th grade language arts at T.A. Sims Elementary. Lou served as a Classroom Teacher at T.A. Sims Elementary and Visiting Teacher at Morningside and Mitchell Boulevard Elementary Schools in Fort Worth ISD for 17 years.
Lou was a faithful member of the Mount Horum Baptist Church where she served as Chairlady of the Educational Committee, a member of the Sanctuary Choir and a Deaconess. Lou loved to sing and often led “I Know It Was the Blood” during the Lord’s Supper. She taught herself how to play piano at a young age and would fill-in as pianist on occasion in Sunday School or at afternoon services.
She has been a Soror of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for over 50 years and, for many years, served the Psi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta as Treasurer.
Lou is preceded in death by her parents: the late Effie Kate Manns Reddic and the late Money Preston Reddic; brothers, Willie Preston Vinson and John Thomas Reddic.
Lou will forever be remembered and loved by: husband, Willie F. Roy, Sr.; children, Willie Roy, Jr. (Jovita), Erika Roy Finney (Thomas), Tabatha Lou Roy-Evans (Kermit); grandchildren, Símone,
Victoria, Sydnie, Kathryn, Kerrah, Ansley, Rachel, Amanda; 1 great grandchild; sisters, Jacqueline Reddic Roy of Overton, Texas; Vastine Cicero and Anna Brown (William) of Tyler, Texas, Rosie Jones of Van, Texas; brother, Joe L. Reddic (Diane) of Kilgore, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The wake for Mrs. Lou Reddic Roy will be Friday, June 23, 2017 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm at the Mount Horum Baptist Church, 3509 Mount Horum Way in Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Floyd S. Moody, Sr. Pastor. The Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Mount Horum Baptist Church; Pastor Dr. Floyd S. Moody, Sr., Officiating.
