Kathryn was born September 29, 1929 in Grant Parish, Louisiana to Clarence and Lois Avant. Married to Lewis Lee Davis on October 23, 1954, they enjoyed 58 years together, living in Fort Worth and Everman for most of their lives. Together, they were longtime members of Southwayside Baptist Church, where they attended with their two children. Kathryn retired from Everman Independent School District food service, having worked in several school cafeterias. Known as Kathryn by most, she was also known by Mary or Mary K. To her family she was also known as “Honey” (by Lewis), Mother or Momma (never Mom) by Wayne Davis and Connie O’Daniel; “Favorite Mother-In-Law” by Wanda Davis and Jim O’Daniel; and as Granny by Alaina O’Daniel, Libby O’Daniel and Kaitlynn Davis. Sometimes she was also called Kat (which she hated!) by her sisters and brothers. Lewis preceded her in death in 2013. She is also preceded in death by sisters, Velma Gregory, Eleanor LeBarron, Lillie Patterson, and brother Lynn Avant. She is survived by son, Wayne Davis and wife Wanda, daughter Connie O’Daniel and husband Jim and granddaughters Alaina, Libby and Kaitlyn. She is also survived by sister Muriel Covington, brothers J.C. Avant and wife Jean, Murry Avant and wife Connie, and by Lewis’s sisters Aline Akin and husband Carl, Patsy Fuller and husband Gerald, Dorothy Simpson, brothers George Davis and wife Ann, Doyle Davis and wife Mollie, sister-in-law Bettye Davis, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to All Star Hospice and the staff of Brookdale Lake Arlington for helping our mother and Granny live out her last days surrounded by the people and things she loved. Your love and support during this difficult time helped make it bearable for us.
