Mary Ruth Fitch

A Visitation for Mary will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76112, with a Celebration of Life at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.

Ruth was born July 14, 1931 in Yuma, Colorado to Grover and Hazel Chapman. Grover was a hardworking farmer and Ruth lived the farm life until going away to college. After graduating, she went to work at the Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado where she met the love of her life, Bob Fitch. Bob and Ruth were married on November 29, 1952 and enjoyed 58 years of marriage until Bob’s passing in 2011. They moved to Fort Worth in 1955 and raised four children in a very happy household.

Ruth went to work for the Corp. of Engineers and retired from there in 1991. She was a wonderful, loving, kind and caring wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. She was an incredible cook and loved having everyone over to celebrate birthdays and holidays. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents Grover and Hazel Chapman; her brother, Wayne Chapman, and her daughter Teri Smith.

Left to cherish her memory: Daughter Diane Winters; Sons, Mike Fitch (Carolyn), and David Fitch; son in law, Mark Smith; grandchildren Misty Baker, Rob Norman (Andrea), Aaron Smith, Michael McCormack, Patrick Fitch, Anna Richard (Evan), Chris Hamilton, Kristen Burnett, Hilary Wilkes, and 12 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at HEB hospital and the compassionate caregivers at Community Hospice.
