Mary Jo was born July 9, 1932, in Leesburg to Chester and Ometa Minnshaw Hanson. On April 9, 1949, she married Clifton O. Rushing; he preceded her in death. On Dec. 1, 1982, she married Bill Slater, who also preceded her in death. She worked many years in Fort Worth, and later Granbury, as an account manager and clerk in commercial insurance. After retiring, she spent many years caring for homeless animals and traveling.
Survivors: Daughters, Beverly Reese and her husband, David Andra, of Norman, Okla., and Melody Yadon of Granbury; niece, Janet Belcher of Garland; grandchildren, Elizabeth Farrar and her husband, Abraham, of Moore, Okla., Clayton Yadon and his wife, Megan, of Glen Rose; nephew, James Belcher; and great-grandchildren, Keegan Farrar and Maddie Courtney Yadon.
