

Mavis Evonne Goosby was born June 5, 1956, to Mavis D. Morgan Sr. and Espanola P. Lewis in Bryan, Texas.
Mavis graduated from Bryan High School in 1974. She continued with her education and graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1980. While attending Prairie View A&M University she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and became a member. She was also a member of the Prairie View A&M University Alumni Association and the Business and Professional Women’s Association.
Mavis accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas. She later moved to Fort Worth, Texas and became a faithful member of Guiding Light Church of God In Christ where she served under the leadership of Elder Stovall Williams. She further strengthened her walk with Christ as she became an ordained Evangelist and pastored Showers of Blessings Ministry. She was an avid member and participant of the Prison Ministry Association and the Order of The Eastern Star.
Mavis met and married Lonnie Goosby Sr and to that union two children were born: Lonnie Goosby Jr and Brenda Goosby.
Mavis worked for General Dynamics, Fort Worth Texas, Fort Worth Independent School District as a substitute teacher, and her own computer programming company. She later worked for Arlington Independent School District as a school bus driver where she later retired.
Mavis was preceded in death by her father Reverend Mavis D, Morgan Sr, her mother Espanola P Lewis, her grandson LaMorris Norel Wiggins, her twin sister Mavis Lavonne Harris Hall, and 5 brothers: Clinton Lewis Jr, James Lewis Sr, Robert Lewis Sr, Vincent Morgan, Paul Morgan, and Aaron Morgan.
Mavis leaves to cherish her memories: daughter Brenda Goosby, son Lonnie Goosby Jr (Shanta Goosby), 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters Belynda Harvey and Phyllis McGill, brothers Sam Morgan, Avis Morgan, Jerry Morgan, Jerome Morgan, Victor Morgan, and Mavis Morgan Jr. and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends, honorary sons, daughters, grandchildren, and special friends.
