Mike was born in Grand Prairie to AC & Mary Alice Weatherly. Mike attended school in the Irving area and graduated from Ft. Worth Christian in 1968. He then enlisted with the U.S. Navy, where he served his country.
Mike met the love of his life, Rita, in May of 1981, and they married on January 30th of 1982. Mike & Rita served as Directors of the singles group (Family Unit 4) at the Richland Hills Church of Christ. Over the past 43 years, Mike & Rita have traveled throughout the United States, trying new restaurants, hunting antiques, exploring scenic views.
He was employed by General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin for over 33 years. He contributed to multiple special projects over the years, including the F-16, F-22 & F-35 .
Mike enjoyed playing disc golf, singing karaoke, and spending time with family.
Survived by his loving wife, Rita, his children; Travis Weatherly, Chris (Debi) Weatherly, and Carrie (Brad) Wells, his grandchildren Kendyl (Brett) Martin, Rylie Weatherly, Dean Weatherly, Taylor Weatherly, and Erin Wells; great-grandson Caven Martin and his siblings Jean (Tim) Cannon & Richard (Carolyn) Weatherly.
He was predeceased in death by his parents AC & Mary Alice Weatherly.
Visitation will be held at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Home Tuesday, January 27th, 2026 from 6-8:00pm.
Funeral Services will be held at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Home in Ft Worth at 9:00 am Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, with the graveside service immediately following at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie.
