Patricia's educational journey began at the Historical Gibbons High School in Paris, Texas. She relocated to Fort Worth, Texas where she attended Carroll Peak Elementary School. At Carroll Peak Patricia participated in several spelling bees. She then enrolled in Morningside Middle School where she was a member of a record setting track and field relay team. She briefly attended Paschal High School and later joined the Job Corps where she graduated with a Surgical Technician Certificate. At age eleven, while a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, she represented the Fort Worth area at the National Youth Conference where she delivered breath taking oratory.
On December 27, 2013, Jimmy L. Blackwell and Patricia A. Brooks became one in Holy Matrimony. Pat absolutely loved her relationship with God, her Pastor, and her Church Family. She served faithfully at Greater Saint Stephen First Church. When she wasn't feeling well, she still served, building up her faith account. A faith account that she had to tap into when she suffered her first heart attack in two thousand and nine. Her doctor said that people with this much blockage usually do not survive.
Patricia was a faithful member and servant of the Sarah Swift Class, Women of the Word (WOW) the ministry for women and girls, and she served for years as treasurer for Xtra Years of Zest (XYZ) the ministry for Seasoned Saints.
Pat detested injustice with a passion. She became an activist during the mistreatment of Shaquanda Cotton by Law Enforcement in Paris Texas. Her journey as an Activist took her to Selma Alabama, Houston, Paris and Clarksville Texas. She also participated in protests at the Omni Hotel Downtown Fort Worth following the murder of Atatiana Jefferson.
Pat's family was paramount in her life. Her four children Michael, Kevin, Chantah Brooks and Tamesha Blackwell was her top priority. The proof is evident by her reluctance to evict hunger from her stomach, so hunger could not establish residence in her children's stomach. Sacrificing for the good of her children was as common as breathing to Pat. Pat has a spirit and personality that makes it difficult not to be attracted to her. Though small in stature, four feet eleven inches, she demanded and received, Goliath sized respect from her children.
Patricia is preceded in death by her father, mother and three brothers Clyde Beaucham, Bill and Larry Brooks, and sister Kathy Sims.
She is survived by her husband Jimmy Blackwell and four children Michael, Kevin and Chantah Brooks and Tamesha Blackwell. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Jackson, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rest in perfect Peace Queen Pat!
