

Phyllis “Susi” Crowder McDaniel, 73 passed away in Fort Worth on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from medical complications after surgery. Born in Cisco, TX to Cecil and Myrtie Crowder, she grew up in west Texas an only daughter with 3 brothers, that helped her quickly develop a feisty, take charge personality that drove her to success in her life’s accomplishments.
As a young girl she sang with her family professionally, in a traveling country western band and continued singing as a young adult, signing with such notable artists as, Ray Price, Bill Mack and Sammi Smith. In recognition for her talent, she received the “East Texas New Talent Award”.
As her life’s journey progressed, her flare for business, eye for fashion and highest calling as fashion police, propelled her to open a high class clothing resale boutique, and later successfully managed other businesses all while raising 2 boys as a single mom.
On October 27, 1995 she married Ross McDaniel in Texas where they guided 2 young daughters to adulthood while obtaining a bachelor degree in business and taking the companies she worked for to greater levels of success.
Along with her business accomplishments, Susi was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who loved to read, shop, and entertain especially with her family around her. Until her health began to fail, she and Ross enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, and participating in charity events with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
She is preceded in death by parents Cecil and Myrtie Crowder and brother Sonny.
Susi is survived by her loving husband of 23 years Ross McDaniel, son: Donny and wife Vicki Pendleton grandchildren: Justin, Ryan, and Cara and 3 great grandchildren: Kristopher, Alison and Brook. son: Scott and wife Sara Bush, granddaughters: Bailey and Emily. Daughters: Buffy McDaniel and Danielle McDaniel and grandson Cooper. She also leaves behind brother: Marty Crowder and nephew Joshua, brother: Joe and wife Carrol Crowder and niece: Kimberly and nephews: Gary and Richard, and numerous additionally family members and loved ones.
Susi’s love of music lives on in Donny and 2 granddaughters, her eye for fashion and art blossoms in Scott and his daughter, her flare for business and eye for success is evident in Buffy, and her love for life and drive to make our world a better place carries on in Danielle. So although Susi has left our side, she lives on in those she loved the most.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for the love and support during Susi recent illness. It is the desire of the family that contributions be made in her honor to the CCFA in lieu of flowers.
