

Richard G. Escovedo (Vedo), a Vietnam veteran, devoted husband, and proud father and grandfather, passed away the morning of December 5, 2025. He lived his life with steady strength, quiet humor, and an unwavering loyalty to the people he loved.
Born in Edinburg, Texas, in June 1951, Mr. Escovedo's earliest years were spent with his migrant worker parents. They moved to Fort Worth when he was four, where he was raised. Richard was a graduate of North Side High School. In his youth, he was an accomplished boxer, competing in the Golden Gloves tournament.
Service and Career: Richard served his country with courage and distinction as a U.S. Army Airborne Vietnam veteran in the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, part of the legendary 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), also known as the "Screaming Eagles." After his honorable service, he successfully co-owned R&R Truck Repair with his family. He later carried his technical skills and deep sense of responsibility into the classroom as a mechanic teacher and coach at Trimble Tech High School. He retired as a safety manager in the construction industry. Interesting projects that he was a part of during his career were the upgrades to Terminal D at DFW Airport and the building of the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Whether he was offering guidance as a teacher or lending a helping hand, he did it with honesty and heart.
Survivors: Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Graciela (Gracie) Escovedo. He leaves behind two devoted sons and their wives: Richie Escovedo (Kristen Escovedo) and Gregory Escovedo (Melissa Escovedo). He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Anna Escovedo, Ryan Escovedo, Marley Grace Escovedo, and Delta Escovedo. He is also survived by his sister Beatrice Armstrong and his brother Robert (Robbie) Tobin, and his large extended family, including multiple nieces and nephews.
Preceded In Death: He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Escovedo, Rachel and Robert Tobin; his brother, Robert Escovedo; his brother, Lloyd Tobin; his beloved sister, Little Rachel Juarez; and his infant brother, Frankie.
Visitation/Rosary will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025 at Laurel Land Main Chapel
Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2025 at Laurel Land Main Chapel
